Electric Scooters / PLEVs

Personal Light Electric vehicles (PLEVs) such as e scooters, electric skateboards and electric unicycles (EUCs) are extremely portable transport devices which can reduce emissions, tackle congestion, shorten journey times and provides mobility for people with a disability or injury. They’re also great fun to ride!

An avid electric unicycle rider since 2017 and member of Rideables.org, this blog is a collection of PLEV related information which I will continue to update.

UK PLEV Legislation Update
Privately owned PLEVs are currently only legal to ride on private land with the land owners permission. The Secretary of State for Transport stated that legislation of private electric scooters will be pushed back to late 2023 / early 2024". However e-scooter technical requirements are not likely to be implemented until the end of 2025.
