Coronavirus: How will you commute to work after lockdown?
As social distancing becomes the new norm, traditional commutes in large cities like London will have to change.
Maintaining a 2m distance between passengers on public transport reduces capacity significantly, prompting a potential shift towards alternative transport methods like bicycles and electric scooters.
However, this change in road use would require quick and radical adjustments to accommodate these vehicles.
E-scooter sales have doubled in the UK despite their current ban on public roads and pavements, and the government was planning a public consultation before the pandemic.
Other alternatives include using personal cars, hiring taxis like Uber, or looking towards more futuristic options such as drone taxis.
